Scheduling north v south games on Tuesday 28th december was stupid. We all said it back in the summer, and now I feel we've been proved right.

People are displaced at Christmas. It's the depth of winter. Travel isnt always easy at this time of year.

Whilst keeping the schedule more localised wouldn't have kept more games on, it would have allowed for later decision making and less overall disruption IMO.

Now there are lots of rearrangements across the football league that involve Tuesday night hauls to the opposite end of the country. It could have all been planned better.

What he said.

There again, expecting the football authorities to apply logic is a bit like expecting an honest government.

Well, to be fair, we were scheduled to play Swindon and Southampton too. It's more the quick succession of games that's a problem for me, home teams would have been favoured too much if all these matches had gone ahead. Travelling nearly a thousand miles in a few days for some teams was silly.

guess no time to arrange it but assuming our pitch is thawing nicely we could have played tranmere home tomorrow.

That would be far too sensible...

It has to be said, it was the one thing that The Conference got right. Local matches on high days and holidays. You could imagine our fixture list if The Conference were running what we're in now. Argiggle home and away Boxing Day and New Years Day. Gasheads on Easter Monday, Bournemouth on Good Friday etc, etc.....

In RaWZ we trust....Amen.
The days of playing teams that are the closest in mileage terms are long gone..The 'old bill' are not keen on that & they do have a input into fixture planning these days(FL)..

My first derby game was a fixture against Torquay on Boxing Bay 1972..Over 11.000 at SJP & the next season the Boxing Day fixture was at Plainmoor over 9,000 for that one..

It's ridiculous, the 3rd longest trip in the football league on December 28th. Dear oh dear...
