And to this day, the highest ever attendance at Old Trafford in one of those semis v Wolves.The 1930's was our Golden Era, a 5th place finish in the top tier plus 2 FA Cup Semi-Finals.
Interestingly (and encouragingly) our attendance yesterday was more than double the number that turned up on that occasion - even though that 1980-81 line up was (arguably) amongst the finest in Grecian history.Second in Div 3, in August ... we've been here before. I suspect we've been top in August sometime before but it'll be hard to find on the web. Early season tables weren't really a thing in the days of steam trains and old Hovis ads.
