Hobo - Charlie Winston
Cracking album.

I managed to get a signed copy of the CD at a Newton Faulkner gig which he was supporting.

Where has the time gone? A quarter of the year gone already; we have managed to add 44 albums released in 2010 to the collection; have heard a lot more; but not interested in purchasing them; due to their overall crapness.

My top 10 for the year so far are

10. Empire & Love - The Imagined Village

9. The Courage Of Others - Midlake

8. The Big To-Do - Drive-By Truckers

7. Outbursts - Turin Brakes

6. Plastic Beach - Gorillaz

5. I Speak Because I can - Laura Marling Mumford & Sons meet Joni Mitchell; great great indie folk

4. Songs From The Heart - Celtic Woman simply beautiful

3. Saturday - Ocean Clour Scene Career high water-mark from OCS

2. Blue Eyed Black Boy - Balkan Beat Box Gipsy punk; mixed with world grooves; if your feet ain't a tapping then your already dead.

1. Black Rock - Joe Bonamassa Recorded mixed & produced in Greece; blues rock mixed with Greek musicianship & instruments; in the wrong hands could have been just a mish mash of sounds; however producers JB & Kevin Shirley have put together in Black Rock an undeniably great modern blues album; heavy on covers all done blisteringly in JB's own style; but it's the original songs that make up many of the best moments on this stunning album.

The Plan B album called The Defamation of Strickland Banks is an incredibly accomplished feat of singing/songwriting from a contemporary artist with classical soul influences - along the lines of Amy/Estelle/Duffy etc with a much more 'street' feel. Literally the best album I've heard in years.
