In RaWZ we trust....Amen.
What would need to happen to allow fans to leave the Big Bank and go round to Red Square at half time? Could Stadium Way be closed off somehow to prevent ticketless fans entering the ground at half time? That way, the food and drink outlets in Red Square could help to deliver the half time refreshments.
It would be awkward because of the access to the student accommodation adjacent to the BB exit.

The food outlet in Red Square is a concession.
It’s more profitable for the club if fans eat from the outlets in the ground.

Isn’t it great that we’re scratching our heads about we can create more opportunities to sell more stuff to more people who want to come to watch and hopefully support our team.

What about if the club could set up a temporary bar outside the BB gates during the first half, open the gates at 3.45pm, close them at 4.05pm just serving cans of beer or soft drinks poured into plastic glasses to alleviate the pressure on the kiosks.

Actually, scratch that, it wouldn’t work. Just a shame that the issue is space and we have loads of it a few metres from the bank, just the other side of the gates.

The bar on the Jungle Path does very well(weather dependant)

The same with the plastic bottled beer sales in the away end. Some serious money gets taken in a very short space of time in alcohol sales in the ground.

Exactly - if only we could find a way to service the big bank fans easily, using the space we have just outside the ground.

Alas there are no alcohol sales in the away end when your mates from Derby come down fred. The same applies to the games against Bolton & the scum.

Not a serious suggestion at all, but what sort of cost would the club be looking at to re-do the big bank from scratch with relevant facilities?
One major cost would be landfill charges. To avoid these is why the current BB structure is built on top of the old BB. ThIs compromise meant no undercroft could be provided to house the toilets and catering facilities. You can't simply excavate it as it supports the current BB.

Were landfill charges the crazy amount they are today in 1999 CB ?

Oouldn't say exactly, as not a field that I ever been involved in. But given the considerable tonnage/volume involved it doesn't surprise me that the decision was taken, with the Club really struggling to fund the redevelopment of two sides of the ground.
