Very well known Exeweb poster
3rd May 1976
A Question of Sport with Henry Cooper & Fred Truman as captains. One of the guests was Northamptonshire & England cricketer David Steele, who’d made his Test Debut at the age of 33 the previous Summer against Australia. Coming out to bat on his Test debut he looked a lot older than he actually was with his premature grey hair & wearing steel film glasses..Aussie pace bowler Jeff Thomson quipped...”Bloody Hell, who’ve we got. Groucho Marx” Steele had the last laugh for the rest of the series. Only played in 8 Tests 1975-76. Had a very respectable test average of 42.
