Interesting to hear that Mr C still harboured ambitions of the play-offs still, albeit a long shot, going into the last half dozen games whereas he felt the club as a whole had settled for a job done in staying up.

He included us in that group of people who had settled. He’s right.

That said, it’s an easy line to say now. Far braver would have been to say it at the time and put the pressure on. To say it at the end of the season is a bit vacuous. Still, he did a good job and I’m excited about next season.

Of course he's right. If you look back to the final position prediction thread from last summer the average position probably would have been about 17th at best and probably got worse when the fixtures came out and people saw the run in. Of course it's easy to say it after the event but I think Mr C is an honest enough bloke to say that's what he genuinely believed. Like you I'm looking forward to next season and, subject to the ins and outs over the summer, believe he will take us up a notch so that we can have something more than just blind hope and optimism at a shot at making the play-offs (and before anyone jumps on that, I'm not saying we're going to make the play-offs but at least have a fighting chance).

GC is not right as far as I am concerned. I think it is nonsense. This is GC's weakness. Its a mind game, a power play.
