I suspect there would be a sign by date on any contract offer. ie sign by 14th June or goodbye.
I don't know the rules but if City withdraw the contract offer would they forfeit the compensation fee?

Why would they withdraw it?

Whatever happened to Isaac Vassell?
I recall it being mentioned on here last summer that he was training with us with a potential view to signing.
But that obviously never happened and I can’t see where else he went to play.
Perhaps he retired early due to injuries?

I suppose we have a limited budget so would need to use what’s in those contract offers to pay replacement players.
We also need sufficient time to woo any new recruits before the season starts.
So, if we withdraw the unsigned contract on a set date we have the money and the time to do the necessary business.
Like DawlishBouy above said though, I don’t know how/if that’d affect our compensation payout?

My point is we wouldn't be withdrawing anything.

Maybe we’re thinking/talking at cross purposes.
As I see it we’ve made a number of contract offers.
And if they remain unsigned beyond a certain date we will potentially withdraw those offers of a contract so we have sufficient time to use that money to make alternative arrangements with other players.

Surely, they'll just run out. Too pedantic??
If the contract isn't signed by a specific date, we don't have to withdraw it, its just elapsed.

We all hope GC gets at least some of his targets in when the squad returns for pre season training

The critical issue is that we make a contract offer at terms equal or better than the expiring one. That protects our interests in terms of entitlement to compensation. If there is an expiry date on the offer it doesn't effect that compo will be due.

When you said "sign by 14th June or goodbye" I assumed you meant withdraw the offer made to him.
