Oopsy.
They are making some decent, on paper, signings before the start of next season. Nicholson has got Rowe-Turner and Lathorpe back in as well as using his contacts to get Brett Williams in. Wouldn't mind a cheeky fiver on them getting playoffs with the squad he's assembled!

Kevin Nicholson seems to have a load of drive and passion. I have seen more in the papers and social media About Torquay United in the past few weeks than I have about ECFC in the past two years. He has made some good signings, the training regime looks good and fun and the guys got a good sense of humour and a nose for publicity. Remind you of anyone?

Nicholson has done very well to turn things around at Torquay at mid point last season the team looked doomed to relegation.

Backing Gary Caldwell, thanks Matt and good luck.
Also there budget will be a lot smaller, even allowing for the lower division. Our last figures showed total club wages of 2.8m I believe, torquays last season I think we're stated as 1.9m in a recent press article. Does depend a bit however on whether our non player wages are higher than would be desirable.

Rather glad to see that Torquay have NOT been taken over by the betting consortium. Apparently their real design seems to have been the money to be generated by the redevelopment of Plainmoor, and the Council refused to sanction the purchase. Perhaps a more realistic view of what is sustainable at Torquay will prevail?

Absolutely right. There was the usual 'wouldn't this be wonderful' reaction to someone whose principal intent was to make money from property development. The big clue being their 'you have to give us Plainmoor, so we can develop and sell that.. and in exchange we'll make a series of promises about the future'. The history of lower leagued and non league football clubs relying on future promises about a new ground, whilst somebody else gets the benefit of the sale of their existing ground, is not a happy one.

Don't know why Torquay wanted a new ground anyway. Plainmoor is fine as it is.

If we could copy their away end and get a new stand ours would look great too, shame there is a group hellbent on ruining that.

The fact that the deal with gi has fallen through is probably a good thing for TUFC in the long term.
