Imho we needed both assuming Stubbs was fit as he's ahead of all of our centre backs in terms of ability and quality. To confirm I am not criticising us moving Stubbs on if we've decided he's not fit enough etc. But I would've personally taken the gamble for the sake of six months because if we could've gotten 15 games out of him his quality would've made a real difference to our season. Why would we have kept Stubbs with Diabate, Hartridge and Aimson, Sweeney and Grounds? For all we know Stubbs will require his knee draining within a week. Of course everyone could forsee Chieck getting injured. Aimson is a long term solution in place of a player with a history of injuries who was on a sizeable wage. It was excellent business at the time to offload him. The liklihood of him being offered another deal was minimal. Move on
We also play 3 centre backs on the pitch
My concern though is we've invested too heavily in Aimson when he's not much ahead of what we have if he's ahead at all.
